What is the Motability Scheme | Lookers smart

What is the SMART Motability Scheme?

The Motability Scheme was set up and is overseen by Motability, a national charity that provides financial assistance to disabled people so they can fund their preferred mobility option.

The scheme would use your government-funded mobility allowance to fund a lease on a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. Since 1978 the charity has helped over three million people to remain mobile, and relies on automotive dealers such as Drayton smart to supply cars to members.

The scheme provides you with a comprehensive lease package that is paid for monthly. As well as covering the cost of a brand new car for three years, this fixed figure also pays for the following:

  • Insurance
  • Servicing and maintenance
  • Full breakdown assistance
  • Annual road tax
  • Replacement tyres
    • Windscreen repairs or replacement
    • A variety of different adaptations.

A 60,000 mile allowance is given for the three-year period, and two named drivers can make use of the vehicle. Once the lease contract is up you can either return the vehicle and find another mobility option or renew the lease and choose another brand new car.

A number of manufacturers have signed up to support the Motability Scheme, and smart is among the most popular. The manufacturer’s city cars are not only stylish and fun to drive but also economical as they are fitted with refined engines. This means low running costs and less expense for you as fuel is one of the few costs you will need to cover.
